September… Here we go again !
September 1st, 2008 Posted in GeneralOn occasion I lose my faint grasp on the illusion that I actually direct my life. It’s September. Whatever the Lord has in store for me, I hope to at least recognize and perhaps even cooperate with. Pretty soon it will be Christmas and that too, shall pass.
But to pass some time over this long weekend, I took up Blog reading… and commenting. The object of my comments – the blogs located on www.crosswalk.com. The subject – (I must be crazy) narrow minded republican world views. (I am crazy) Well, I must have spent half the day wondering why it’s Ok to torture a man to get the “truth out of him” just like in the inquisition, but it’s not Ok to be a working mom – and the American culture is threatened by satan, who like a snake is leaving us no space to escape… convincing even Christians that it’s Ok for a mom to be vice-president. mmm…. I think I can sum it up this way: A great many of my American cousins (barring the democrat jews on my wife’s side) consider the greatest threat to their faith the culture around them, rather than our human nature to be satisfied with well, self satisfaction (read self-righteousness) They consider the greatest threat to their ability to live as Christians the fact that they may one day be a minority among infidels. Strange… it doesn’t seem to bother the Chinese church which is growing, according to all reports, by leaps and bounds. What it all means is, some people think they can only be happy as Christians if the rest of the world is compelled by the law to at least behave like Christians (as they imagine Christians ought to behave). Weird.

I hope you have time to listen to the message this week… or, why not click on the RSS symbol and have it sent to you automatically!
One footnote on the message:
I mention that the only thing that separates us from God (is not our sins)…. well that may sound like heresy to some of my listeners, but think it through…. after we receive the Holy Spirit and become Christians, do we still sin? ummm…… so far yes. But Jesus said he’d never leave nor forsake us. So I guess our failures aren’t separating us. But our independent pride can. PS: I seem to be having trouble uploading my audio files… they get holes in them. I’ll try a cable instead of wireless next time…. If you have a NKJV bible handy, you can fill in the blanks.

You DO direct your life.
You intentionally select Jesus as your savior.
It is your choice.
You get what you think about – if you want it or not. Knowing that truth, you select to follow Christ, and not the alternative.
No?
